It's been asked which is your favorite book...Now which is your favorite character? Does your favorite character differ from the books to the movies?
My favorite is Hermione. I know that she's a smart-aleck, but she makes me laugh!

Re: Favorite Character?
Mon, February 23, 2004 - 7:00 PMThe Weasley boys cracked me up non-stop in all the books. But I think my "favorite" character would be Mad-Eye Moody, with Sirius as a very, very close second. -
-
Re: Favorite Character?
Tue, February 24, 2004 - 10:39 AMHmmm. I love them all...but I'd have to say either Hermione (I kinda relate to her...:D) or Mr. and Mrs. Weasley.
"It runs on eckeltricity, right?"
:)

Re: Favorite Character?
Tue, February 24, 2004 - 7:35 PMSo, by Weasley boys do you mean the twins, because I think they're my favorite! When they left the school I cheered and especially liked the small bit of the swamp that was left out of respect, because it was a good bit of magic. I agree that Mad-eye was super-cool in Goblet (especially when he turned Malfoy into a weasel), but I'm conflicted because he was an imposter.

Wed, March 24, 2004 - 9:55 AMHagrid. No questions. He's so lovable even though he looks like an imposing giant. I love the way he adores monsters like giant spiders and werewolves and dragons. And naming the three-headed dog Fluffy. And the fudge that you can't chew. He's awesome. -

Re: Favorite Character?
Wed, March 24, 2004 - 6:48 PMYeah, I kinda want to marry Hagrid. -

Re: Favorite Character?
Thu, March 25, 2004 - 2:48 PMHehe That's great Jennif :) Let's see my favorite would have to be....Ginny Weasley... I think that her and Harry Potter should be together :) That would be soooooo cute.... and than him and Ron could be family... and Ron will get together with Hermione. Yes, that is how it should go! It's either Ginny or Tom Riddle in the movie (he was hot!) Even when he was dying and screaming and there was rays of light shining through his skin! >=) -
-
Re: Favorite Character?
Thu, April 1, 2004 - 12:52 AMHermione is my favorite.
But Ginny is awesome! I think she and Harry will get together. There is something about Red Hair, and being connected to Harry. Like his mom, the weasleys, and even Dumbledore had red hair when he was younger. Hmmm... -

Thu, April 8, 2004 - 11:11 PMMy favorites from the movies so far is Dumbledore.... but from the books... Sirius Black is fast becoming one as well. -
-
Re: Favorite Character?
Fri, April 9, 2004 - 8:23 PMAlicia, that made me think of the relationship to "mudbloods" and redhair, since Dumbledore and the Weasleys are both inclusive, accepting, though being pureblood wizards (well, is Dumbledore? I'm not sure). And Harry's mother was not pureblooded. Strange.
I've been wondering about James' family - where did they all disappear too? Or was James an orphan too? We really haven't learned about his past much, have we?
Oooh, I really like Lupin and Tonks too! :D -

Re: Favorite Character?
Sat, April 10, 2004 - 1:41 AMyeah, I don't know... but I know that in the next book, we supposedly learn all about Lily, including why her eyes were so important.
I wouldn't be suprised to learn that Godric Gryffindor had red hair. Maybe they are all related to him. -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Favorite Character?
Sat, April 10, 2004 - 1:09 PMHeh, let's not forget that Harry & his family lived in...Godric's Hollow.
I just reread OotP...the prophesy is definitely intriguing. I wonder what the three events were that both Harry & Neville's families fought Voldemort at?

Re: Favorite Character?
Mon, August 2, 2004 - 10:05 PMMy favorite has to be Sirius Black. It is amazing the way that he takes on his role as protector of harry. He is so caring and risks his life for harry. I don't want to believe that he's dead. I love him because of his determination even when misunderstood and imprisoned by society. I don't want to believe that he won't be a part of the next two books. I hope that harry gets to see him again behind the veil.
In the movies, my favorite is definitely Ron. His faces are sooo great. He's got great comic timing.

Re: Favorite Character?
Thu, April 15, 2004 - 10:18 PMMy favorite is Remus Lupin.
Who doesn't love a person who is despised, and still stands up for what they believe in. Such a gentle person, even though he is a werewolf. Always standing up for his principles, even when Snape is his usual self.
I can't wait to see what they do with him in the new movie. -

I think Hermione is my favorite character but I must admit that I luv them all. -

Re: Favorite Character??

Re: Favorite Character?
Sun, July 4, 2004 - 10:54 PMHey guys, I would have to say Remus Lupin is my fave, and Sirius is a close second, I still love him even though, well you know :_( But in the movie I loved Lupin, cuz he was so kind and gentle, just the way I imagined him, but I would have got rid of the moustache thing going on ;) -

Re: Favorite Character?
Mon, July 5, 2004 - 11:27 AMWhat I find interesting about this post is that there are so many great characters-- favorites are all over the map. I think this is one of the core reasons for HP's overwhelming success--nearly all of the characters have enough in them to resonate well.
This is another way of sayin I can't choose! I like Harry in the books, but Ron's my favorite in the movies. Anyone else have a movie favorite character that is different from their book favorite? -

Mon, July 5, 2004 - 11:29 AMok, I belatedly read the first few posts, and realize the question about movie vs book favorite characters was already asked, and answered by some. Put this in the category of sloppy (quick) posting on my part, or great minds think alike--your pick.

Mon, July 5, 2004 - 8:37 PMSirius Black in the books and movies. Snape is a close second in the movies only (I guess b/c I dig Alan Rickman). Of the main trio, Hermione is my favorite.

Sun, August 8, 2004 - 10:28 AMmy favorite character would have to be Fred and George. They are such good comic reliefs. At the point in alot of the books where it starts to get too serious Fred and George appear to lighten up the story.

Sun, August 22, 2004 - 12:29 AMChalk me up in the Hermione camp.
She reminds me a lot of me when I was a kid... :-)
I have to admit too, that Emma Watson has got to be one of the cutest kids I've ever seen, everytime I watch one of the movies, I want to buy her a great big teddy bear.

Re: Favorite Character?
Sun, October 17, 2004 - 8:12 PMMy favorite character from the movies is Professor McGonagall. She just seems to have way more personality in the movies than she shows in the books. You know it's there, but you never see it. As for the books, it's a tie between Lupin and Moody (the fake one). They both brought a lot to their DADA lessons. I was so disappointed when the real Moody turned out to be unlike the fake one. I still love the part when he turns Malfoy into a ferret. They've just got to include that in the movie! -

Re: Favorite Character?
Sun, November 7, 2004 - 6:04 AMHmmmm, that's a tough question. in no order: I love the Weasley twins (hate the way the weren't given proper lines in the films though. like when they gave Harry the Map in the PoA film they say "the secret to our success" but if you'd only seen the films you'd have no idea what they were talking about), Sirius is awesome, Dobby is quaint, Mundungus is pretty funny, Lupin is cool, Ginny is great, my friends tell me if you combine Luna and Tonks you'd get me, i can't see it myself but i guess i wouldn't, but i like them from the start anyway, Snape rocks, Draco and Lucius are indescribibly cool,
Oddly enough, i actually don't like Harry, he can be such a bos(om). at times. still not half as bos-ie as Frodo in LotR. -
